about us
theatre akimbo is a new theatre company, formed in 2008, based in Worthing West Sussex.
Our core repertoire is to focus on fresh, bold, ambitious new productions that represent and reflect the diversity of everyday people and everyday situations.
At the heart of everything we do is the passionately held belief that quality theatre does not have to be elitist – people everywhere deserve the best. Our aim is to take rich, compelling, provocative, diverse and entertaining theatre that is relevant to as wide an audience as possible.
We focus on the art of acting and aim to attract the best local actors, directors, designers and technicians to deliver theatre that is inventive, original and leading edge in its genre
Our ethos encompasses a strong commitment to creative learning and over 2010 we intend to develop a series of workshops to not only encourage theatre and acting as a creative outlet and art-form and integral part of our culture, but to also address key social and behavioural issues in today’s society. By encouraging community participation and nurturing confidence we will provide a sense of validity and belonging and a voice for all individuals with mental health problems or social, behavioural and moral issues.
